2021 is the International Year of Fruit and Vegetables

In the last few years, the rise in demand for premium pet food products has increased substantially and as our pets are omnivores it should be no surprise that the human health trend of eating more fruit and vegetables has crossed over into pet food with more pet owners understanding that these fantastic ingredients provide huge benefits to our pets’ overall health and well-being.

How do fruits and vegetables benefit pets?
A pet’s diet should be nutritionally appropriate to suit its own particular life stage and so by including the right selection and balance of fruit and vegetables ensures that we are providing them with good sources of fibre, minerals and vitamins to help with their overall health and wellbeing. Whilst quality protein sources must be fed to ensure that the amino acid requirements are met, fruit and vegetables provide these additional, essential nutrients.

In recent times there has been a strong focus on maintaining health at home by eating healthy foods and again, this has extended to our pets. The United Nations announced that 2021 is the International Year of Fruit and Vegetables and this has raised the awareness of their benefits in terms of nutrition, health and sustainable farming. Here at Orchard House we now have seven fantastic recipes in our Orchard’s Prime range, each one offering its own unique choice of 5 nutritionally beneficial fruit and vegetable Superfoods, carefully selected for the individual recipe thus ensuring that they provide their own appropriate, high quality and nutritionally balanced diet.
